Research

The School of Education conducts internationally excellent research based around strategic areas of expertise. We collaborate closely with Welsh Government, third-sector organisations, local councils, schools and parent groups to deliver research with real impact on policy and practice.

CIEREI

Members of the School of Educational Sciences founded, lead, and contribute to CIEREI, the Institute of Education and Childhood Research. CIEREI’s research aligns to the six interdisciplinary research themes outlined in the Welsh Government NSERE strategy document:

  • Curriculum and Pedagogy,
  • Leadership and Professional Learning,
  • Equity and ALN,
  • Bilingual and Welsh medium education,
  • Teacher Education,
  • Childhood and Youth studies.

Cutting across all six research themes, CIEREI has intersecting interests in research on:

  • health and wellbeing,
  • bilingualism, and
  • digital learning.

CIEREI is a collaboration between GwE (the Regional School Effectiveness and Improvement Service for North Wales), Bangor University (led by the School of Educational Sciences and the School of Human and Behavioural Sciences), and other bodies and institutions with an interest in improving educational outcomes and the well-being of children.
