IIM Programme Lead & Tutor: Psychology, Academic Skills & Economics
Experience
Hamid is the International Incorporated Master’s (IIM) Programme Lead at Bangor University International College (BUIC), responsible for all learning and teaching at the IIM level. His work is multidisciplinary and multidepartment, spanning various faculties at Bangor University. At BUIC, Hamid teaches Psychology, Business, Language, and Study Skills modules to Foundation, Undergraduate, and Master’s students. His teaching philosophy is to ‘tackle additional challenges that students face.’ As the Disability Lead at BUIC, he ensures that students with disabilities receive the necessary accommodations and personalized learning plans. He also oversees Transitional Activities, contributing to the soft-landing of students to the university and guiding them through critical phases of their academic journey. Hamid also lectures at Bangor University Business School, where he teaches Professional Competence to Master’s students. His teaching career in the UK began in 2019 at the School of Psychology and Sport Science, where he taught Scientific Writing and Research Methods. His commitment to coordination and leadership is recognized through his Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). This fellowship reflects his dedication to tackling additional challenges that students face and his inclusive leadership approach that considers individual needs. Hamid’s multi-departmental activities also extend to the School of Arts, Culture, and Language at Bangor University, where he has collaborated with colleagues on research projects and presented findings at academic conferences. His contributions have also included assisting universities in organizing conferences for students, further showcasing his commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive academic environment. In addition to his teaching and administrative roles and as a PhD candidate in Psychology, Hamid is a researcher in Cognitive Neuroscience and Social Psychology. His research interests include language and accents, explicit and implicit bias, and attitudes.

Languages and cultures, accents, Anomalistic Psychology and the Paranormal, competitive video gaming, travelling, storytelling, and poetry.

Here at BUIC, I have the wonderful opportunity to work in a highly passionate and professional team, teaching home and international students who come from a wide range of cultural and educational backgrounds. I have been learning so much from students!
