There is a wealth of research showing that evidence-based parenting programmes work but much less has explored the questions how and why they work. It is often challenging for service providers to identify effective interventions given the hundreds of programmes available, but equally importantly, finding out what resources and levels of expertise are needed to implement the chosen intervention effectively within their service. Delivering interventions as originally intended by the developer, known as implementation fidelity, is important as it ensures that children and families access effective support. Understanding the challenges faced by service providers in implementing an intervention is a crucial part of achieving implementation fidelity.
One of our goals is to take evidence-based interventions to scale. To do this CEBEI works closely with service providers to identify and address challenges to effective implementation. Our research identifies the factors associated with successful implementation and disseminates this information to service providers through our newsletter and publications.
