Location

• Coastal town situated near to the Snowdonia mountains.

Undergraduate/Bachelor Degree

For entry onto the first year of our 3 or 4 year undergraduate / Bachelor degree programmes we ask for a school leaving qualification which is equivalent to the British school leaving qualification, (A-levels / International Baccalaureate).

We accept minimum overall grades in the Vitnemål for videregående opplæring of 4 or above (there may be additional subject requirements depending on the degree scheme applied for) and your certificate should include the phrase "og har oppnådd generell studiekompetanse" in the top-left section of the document.

Students following a vocational stream may also be considered for entry and your certificate should include the term “og har oppnådd yrkeskompetanse” or “og har greidd fagopplæring” in the top-left section of the document.

 

Postgraduate/Master Degree

Bachelor degree with minimum grades C/Good.

Mature students will be considered on a case by case basis.

 

Postgraduate Research/PhD

Good grades in Bachelor degree and a Masters degree. Previous research experience is essential.

English Language Requirements

IELTS 6.0 (5.5) or equivalent. Some courses have higher English language requirements.

In lieu of IELTS, we would normally accept a minimum grade 4 in the English Language subject of the “Vitnemål for videregående opplæring” as meeting Bangor University’s English language requirement.

• International Year Zero: High school certificate or equivalent from your home country + IELTS 5.5 (5.5)
• International Year 1: School leaving qualification equivalent to the British school leaving qualification (A-levels / IB) + IELTS 5.5 (5.5)
• Undergraduate Courses: School leaving qualification equivalent to the British school leaving qualification (A-levels / IB) or the University may also recognise relevant professional experience of 2 years or longer for entry onto our degree programmes + IELTS 6.0 (5.5)
• Postgraduate Courses: Undergraduate / bachelor degree of equivalent standard to the British undergraduate/bachelor degree or the University may also recognise relevant professional experience of 2 years or longer for entry onto our degree programmes + IELTS 6.0 (5.5)
• PhD/Research Course: Postgraduate / Master’s Degree of equivalent standard to the British Postgraduate / Master’s Degree + IELTS 6.0 (5.5)

Applicants from some countries do NOT need to provide additional evidence of English Language ability, if previous education was with English medium of instruction. Otherwise, an IELTS overall 6.0 with 5.5 in each component or equivalent is normally required (some courses may require a higher score.
