A mixture of my love for science and compassion for patient care.
Describe what you do?
I work in the microbiology department at the Wrexham Maelor. The pandemic mostly found me focusing on molecular testing for virology but now it’s a mix of bacteriology for sepsis pathways and viral screening for inpatients and outpatients.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I love the job satisfaction of venting and gram staining blood cultures, using microscopy and molecular platforms to detect specific organisms.
What would you say to someone thinking about a career in the NHS?
Go for it, it’s not easy but there is a lot of job satisfaction and pride with every test.
