Dr Heather He - OR66 Annual Conference 2024
Dr Heather He, a Lecturer in Data Science/Analytics at Bangor Business School, served as a member of the organising committee for the Operational Research Society's Annual Conference, OR66, which returned to Bangor University this year for the first time in over 30 years.
Reflecting on the event, she remarked, "It’s wonderful to see OR66 returning to Bangor. It has been a great honour to be part of the conference organising committee and stream chairs."
The conference covered a range of innovative topics, including a newly introduced stream on "Tourism & Hospitality." Organised by Dr. Linda Osti from Bangor Business School, Stefania Escobar from the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, and Heather, this stream welcomed many high-quality submissions from Bangor Business School colleagues and international experts. The presentations explored how both qualitative and quantitative OR methods can be used to address challenges in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
Heather also co-chaired the "Education in OR & Analytics" stream with Dr. Marios Kremantzis from the University of Bristol, focusing on the benefits and challenges of integrating Generative AI (GenAI) into higher education.
Reflecting on her experience, Heather added, "It was truly inspiring to see so many talented individuals share their insights and research. I am particularly proud of the strong participation from our colleagues at Bangor Business School. The conference has provided a wonderful opportunity to showcase our work and foster valuable discussions that will hopefully lead to future collaborations and innovations in our field."
