Indicative Content:
• Essential elements of the legal system. • The law of obligations. • Employment law. • The formation and constitution of business organisations. • Capital and the financing of companies. • Management, administration, and regulation of companies • Legal implications relating to companies in difficulty or in crisis. • Governance and ethical issues relating to business.
Assessment Strategy
-threshold -D- to D+ (40-49%): No major omissions or inaccuracies in the deployment of information/skills. Some grasp of theoretical/conceptual/practical elements. Integration of theory/practice/information present intermittently in pursuit of the assessed work's objectives.
-good -B- to B+ (60-69%): Very good performance Most of the relevant information accurately deployed. Good grasp of theoretical/conceptual/practical elements. Learning Outcomes
- Describe the legal implications relating to companies in difficulty or in crisis.
- Discuss the essential elements of the legal system, including the main sources of law.
- Discuss the laws of obligations and employment relationships and apply them on relevant case studies.
- Distinguish between alternative forms and constitutions of business organisations and compare types of capital to finance companies.
- Explain the concept of corporate governance and recognise the relevant ethical and business complications.

Description
The students will be informed about the topic and the expectations for the assignment. The module leader will clearly communicate the allocation of marks for the written report and the presentation and provide the necessary rubrics. Additionally, the module leader will specify the allocation of marks for both the group and individual contributions and ensure that this information is communicated to the students. The assignment word limit is 4,000 and the group presentation time is 20 minutes per group. Groups will consist of no more than 4 students.

Description
Students will take an unseen two-hour-long examination paper. The paper will consist of two sections; the first will require students to review two short case studies and answer short questions that require the ability to analyse the problem in each case and apply relevant concepts. The second section will require students to answer an essay question, to demonstrate critical understanding of a relevant topic.
