Taking on the supervision of research students is one of the most responsible and often challenging tasks in an academic career. It should also be one of the most rewarding. But, as with other professional roles, to be effective a supervisor needs preparation.
The indicative programme will be tailored to the topics that you raise but will be modified as we go along. It will certainly cover issues such as :
- Specific regulations for Bangor supervisors and students
- Developing a good supervisor/student relationship
- How to establish whether the student’s work is good enough to pass
- How to help a student finish on time
