History Students Represent Bangor University at Take pART Event with Amgueddfa Cymru
Thanks to Amgueddfa Cymru, an incredible opportunity was provided for two of our excellent History students, Eleanor Lees (Ellie) and Tomos Cahill, to participate as Amgueddfa Cymru Producers (ACPs) at the annual Take pART event held at Venue Cymru in Llandudno!
Ellie and Tomos played an integral role in managing Amgueddfa Cymru’s stall at the event, working alongside staff from the National Slate Museum in Llanberis and a representative of Bloedd — a collective within Amgueddfa Cymru that encourages 16–30-year-olds to engage with museum work.
The event centered on the theme of the closure and redevelopment of the National Slate Museum, offering visitors hands-on activities including collection-handling workshops, lino printing with community-designed stencils, and decorating slate coasters. The students also supported activities simulating the preservation of museum collections, such as packing artefacts and sorting them based on specific parameters.
Ellie reflected on the day by saying:
"Though exhausting, the experience was invaluable. I developed key skills in heritage work and engaging with children, while also practicing my Welsh — something I’m keen to improve. Working with the team from Amgueddfa Cymru and Bloedd gave me valuable insights into potential career paths and deepened my passion for this field."
We are incredibly proud of Ellie and Tomos for their enthusiasm and contributions. Events like this not only enrich the cultural community but also provide unique learning opportunities for our students to explore future career possibilities.
Thank you once again to Amgueddfa Cymru, Bloedd, and the team at the National Slate Museum for making this experience possible.
