Dr Fariba Darabi, Senior Lecturer in Management, and Co-Chair of the Research Methodology Special Interest Group (SIG) at the British Academy of Management, co-organised and presented at the SIG event entitled ‘Rethinking Research Methodology Training for Students and Early Career Researchers in the Digital Age’. The event was a collaboration between Bangor Business School, Leeds University Business School, and Birmingham University Business School. This was a great success with over 100 registered participants online from Europe, North America, Asia, and Africa. This was the 2024 event in the SIG’s annual ‘Sharing our Struggles’ seminar series supporting teachers of research methods and methodologies in universities around the world.
Participants explored the evolving landscape of research methodologies in business and management. The conversation was inspired by lightning talks on engaged scholarship research by Dr Fariba Darabi from Bangor Business School, data analytics by Professor Danat Valizadeh from Leeds University Business School, generative artificial intelligence (Gen-AI) by Professor Mark Saunders from Birmingham University Business School, and decolonialisation by Dr Lena Jaspersen from Leeds University Business School. The insights from this event have considerable implications for our PGT and Doctoral research training.
