Facilities
In addition to 55 student clubs, Bangor University also provides sports facilities for around 50 local clubs, teams and groups. Canolfan Brailsford is the University's Sport Centre and provides sport and recreation facilities for both members of Bangor University and the general public.
There are indoor facilities for a whole range of sport and fitness activities, including weight training, aerobic classes, indoor cricket, squash, trampolining and much more.
Sports Bursaries
In addition to the provision of pitches, halls and courts, Bangor University provides bursaries for local athletes to enable them to train in the facilities completely free of charge. Applications are received every year and many recipients have gone on to represent Wales and Great Britain.
Community Partnerships
Bangor University works closely with other local sporting providers to capitalize on funding opportunities. In 2014 Bangor University part funded the new all-weather “3G” pitch at Bangor City’s Bangor University Stadium, providing a valuable community resource for an even wider range of local clubs.
The netball and tennis dome at Canolfan Brailsford was jointly funded by the University and Sport Wales and is prioritised for local netball use by adult and junior clubs.
