Across Borders: The Confucius Institute at Bangor University and the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) Challenge Students to Think Critically!
The Confucius Institute at Bangor University and the Office of the Confucius Institute at China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) are pleased to announce the successful completion of a two-week online summer school on critical thinking, held from July 1st to July 12th. This collaborative initiative aimed to enrich the intellectual landscape of participating students through an engaging exploration of critical thinking across various domains.
During the programme, students addressed thought-provoking topics such as "What is Real?", "Personal Identity", "Free Will", and other philosophical inquiries that challenge conventional wisdom. Anthony Brooks of the English Language Centre for Foreign Students (ELCOS) designed and delivered the curriculum to foster analytical skills, encourage open dialogue, and broaden perspectives on these timeless philosophical questions.
Dr Lina Davitt, who is the Director of Bangor University's Confucius Institute, added, "The collaboration between CUPL and Bangor University has been extremely rewarding. Our joint efforts to foster critical thinking skills have been greatly enhanced by enthusiastic participation and the thoughtful contributions of everyone who took part."
Beyond academic exploration, the summer school also facilitated cultural exchange and strengthened academic bonds between CUPL and Bangor University. Participants lauded the program for its enriching content, interactive sessions, and the opportunity to connect with peers and experts from diverse backgrounds.
