Chinese Bridge Mandarin Speaking Competition Winner
We are thrilled that one of our students, Lilly Braden, won FIRST place in the individual beginner category of the 2023 Chinese Bridge Mandarin Speaking Competition for UK Secondary School Students organised by the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) UK and supported by the British Council.
Lilly Braden commented: ‘I was delighted to have won the competition in the beginner category. I would like to thank my teacher Shan for helping me get this far! She always encourages me to be better and improve my Mandarin accuracy. I am excited to return to London later in the year for the award ceremony.’
The Chinese Bridge Mandarin Proficiency Competition is a large-scale international contest and highly respected event in the cultural and educational global exchanges. This prestigious competition aims to stimulate students’ interest in learning Chinese worldwide, expand their understanding of the Chinese language and culture, and build bridges of friendship between the young people of China and other countries.
Well done to Lilly, and a huge thanks to her teacher Shan Lu for her dedication and enthusiasm for teaching Mandarin!
