Exploring Languages and Cultures: Pupil Language Ambassador Training at Bangor University!
Over 160 Year 8 Students from 11 Schools Across North Wales Engage in Diverse Cultural and Linguistic Activities
Bangor University welcomed over 160 Year 8 students from 11 schools across North Wales for a day of cultural and linguistic exploration. The Pupil Language Ambassador Training, organised by Routes Cymru in collaboration with GwE Global Futures and featuring sessions hosted by the Confucius Institute, provided a platform for young learners to discover new languages and cultures, equipping them with the skills to become language ambassadors in their schools and to foster a love for languages and cultural diversity in schools across Wales.
Throughout the day, students engaged in various interactive activities designed to ignite their interest in language learning and cultural appreciation. One of the highlights included workshops on making traditional Chinese bracelets led by tutors from the Confucius Institute. This hands-on activity gave students a deeper understanding of Chinese culture through crafting and was well-received by everyone at the event.
As the day drew to a close, students left with a deeper knowledge of different cultures, a new set of skills, and a renewed enthusiasm for their roles as language ambassadors. They are now poised to return to their schools, ready to inspire their peers and promote the joy of language learning.
