Our Lady's School Celebrates Chinese New Year with Week-long Workshops!
Students at Our Lady's School have been treated to an immersive cultural experience as they celebrated Chinese New Year through a series of engaging workshops held every day for a week.
From the melodious tunes of traditional Chinese music to the intricate art of Beijing mask painting, the workshops offered diverse activities to captivate the students' interest. Among the highlights was the opportunity for participants to explore the beauty of Chinese brush painting, refining their skills under the guidance of our experienced tutors.
In addition to the artistic endeavours, students also delved into the linguistic richness of the Chinese language through Mandarin tasters. These sessions provided a glimpse into the fascinating world of Mandarin, allowing students to learn basic phrases and appreciate the nuances of this ancient language.
Headteacher Aimee Jones applauded the initiative, emphasising the importance of cultural exchange and understanding in today's global society. "These workshops not only celebrate the vibrant traditions of Chinese New Year but also promote cross-cultural appreciation and unity among our students," she remarked.
The week-long festivities culminated in a showcase where students proudly displayed their creations and demonstrated their newfound skills. The event not only fostered a deeper understanding of Chinese culture but also served as a reminder of the diversity that enriches the school community at Our Lady's School.
