Overview
The module content may include the following topics: the role and nature of markets in health and social care; supply and demand; costs and economies of scale; health and social care markets and efficiency. The content will also provide an introduction to identifying, measuring and valuing consequences in health and social care; economic evaluation and decision-making (cost minimisation, cost benefit, cost effectiveness and cost utility). Students will also be provided with content which provides an introduction to the changing world of health and social care finance, globalisation and health and well-being in the context of prevention and health equity

Assessment Strategy
-threshold (C)- To achieve a ‘pass’ on the module’ the student will be required to demonstrate some knowledge of debates on the principles, practices, policies, and legislation for equity in the health and wellbeing of future generations, and some awareness of how research can inform leadership and management change.
-good (B)- To achieve a ‘good pass’ the student will be required to demonstrate good knowledge of debates on the principles, practices, policies, and legislation for equity in the health and wellbeing of future generations, and good awareness of how research can inform leadership and management change.
-excellent (A)- To achieve an excellent pass, the student will be required to demonstrate a high level of knoweledge of debates on the principles, practices, policies, and legislation for equity in the health and wellbeing of future generations, and excellent awareness of how research can inform leadership and management change.
