-threshold -Grades D- to D+ Work displays satisfactory knowledge and understanding of the facts and principles specific to the topics covered in this module and the outcomes being assessed, reflecting a satisfactory level of background study. Presentation, communication and are satisfactory. A grade of D- is required to pass assessments.

The work is focussed, well structured and logically presented.The work is presented to a very good standard with good communication and minimal factual or computational errors.
-excellent -Grade A- to A* Work displays excellent comprehensive knowledge and detailed understanding of the facts and principles specific to the topics covered in this module and the outcomes being assessed, reflecting extensive background study. The work is highly focussed, well structured, logically presented .The work is presented to a high standard with accurate communication and no factual or computational errors.

Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate achievement of identified midwifery skills for year 1 outlined in the midwifery practice assessment document.
- Demonstrate and reflect upon the application of underpinning knowledge to support the development and assimilation of identified midwifery skills.
- Demonstrate knowledge at novice level of assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating universal care of women and their newborns.
- Demonstrate the development of excellent communication skills, professional behaviour, and an awareness of own limitations, professional responsibility and accountability.
