Overview
Theories and models of creative mindsets; theories and models relating to design thinking for innovation; effective design application of:- Research; Ideation; Development, and Testing and Evaluating. Effective facilitation skills and outcomes in relation to design processes.
Students will contribute and lead on a design based practical application activity.
Assessment Strategy
-threshold -50-59% Knowledge of key area/principles. Understands the main elements of the subject area. Limited evidence of background study. Critical reflection shows sufficient understanding of theory against practice. Some weaknesses in presentation and accuracy -good -60-69% Strong knowledge • Understands most but not all of the subject area • Evidence of background study. Critical reflection shows strong understanding of theory against practice. Good presentation with accurate communication -excellent -70% or above. Comprehensive knowledge • Detailed understanding of subject area • Extensive background study. Critical reflection shows outstanding understanding of theory against practice with original insights. Excellent presentation with very accurate communication.
Learning Outcomes
- Acts with initiative in decision-making in relation to planning, facilitating and delivering a creative process in the context of design thinking.
- Demonstrate a deep and systematic understanding of applied design thinking research in a range of contexts, and its interrelationship with other relevant disciplines.
- Incorporates a critical ethical dimension to their practice, managing the implications of ethical dilemmas.
- Uses reflection to critically analyse self; own actions; and the actions of others, in relation to role as team member, team leader and the design process.
- Work effectively with multiple teams as leader or member. Clarifies tasks and makes appropriate use of the capacities of team members, resolving likely conflict situations before they arise.
Assessment method
