REASON Open Networks Project Plenary 2025
Last week, Lecturer Dr Wei Jin and researcher Dr Luis Vallejo Castro attended the 2-day REASON Open Networks Project Plenary 2025. Over the two days, two years of research highlighting developments in open, interoperable, and intelligent network solutions was presented, in various sessions, on six key work packages:
WP1: Future Open Network Architecture
WP2: Enabling Technologies for Multi-Access Networks
WP3: Pervasive End-to-End Embedded Network Intelligence
WP4: Network Edge Automation
WP5: Cognitive Orchestration for Future Open Networks (6G)
WP6: Industrialisation Process
The DSP Centre is working with the Compound Semiconductor Centre Limited, Cardiff University and Southampton University on WP2: Enabling Technologies for Multi-Access Networks to develop custom designed amplifiers for integration into Silicon Photonics to enable low latency optical switching underpinning novel networking solutions.
The DSP Centre is proud to be a part of this award-winning research project advancing the future of connectivity. Realising Enabling Architectures and Solutions for Open Networks (REASON) is developing and demonstrating novel technologies and solutions for future open 6G communication networks targeting to alleviate current bottlenecks in delivering optimised end-to-end multi-technology, multi-vendor networks. The project focuses on all layers of the network, from technologies to systems to new AI-empowered software.
