Research Excellence Framework 2014: Results Overview
Periodically the UK government sponsors a process, the Research Excellence Framework (REF) that grades the research activity in all UK Universities, the most recent results have now been released for REF 2014.
The Schools of Chemistry, Computer Science and Electronic Engineering are all highly research focussed and submitted just under 90% of all their academic staff.
Electronic Engineering did particularly well with it’s research output rated the 4th best in the UK.
All of Chemistry’s research was graded as Internationally recognised or better. The quality of Chemistry’s research output has improved with 70% now in the top two categories of World Leading or Internationally Excellent.
In Computer Science nearly 65% of the research output was rated as either World Leading or Internationally Excellent.
All three Schools are looking forward to building on the Research Excellence identified in REF2014.
