Celebrating 120 years of Forestry at Bangor University 1904 - 2024
You're invited to join us on 6th and 7th September to celebrate 120 years of Forestry@ Bangor.
The ticket price includes all of the activities below. You are welcome to purchase tickets for guests who aren't alumni.
Programme:
Friday, 6th September 2024
From 14:00 in the Thoday Building, Bangor University
- Catch up with old friends
- Enjoy presentations from Forestry@Bangor alumni guest speakers, sharing insights into how Bangor University has helped shape their careers, lives, businesses and friendships
- Help with efforts to ensure that Forestry@Bangor thrives for another 120 years
- Stay refreshed with regular tea / coffee breaks, including brownies and bara brith
- Browse forestry material from the University Archives and learn about our new ‘Forestry Collection’ (if you have material you'd like to donate, please click here)
- Unveiling of the Bangor University Forestry Archives (BUFA) – donation opportunities
From 18:30 at Reichel Hall, Bangor University
- Drinks reception with former and current staff in the Penrhyn room
- Enjoy a 3-course evening meal at Reichel hall, including after dinner speaker.
Saturday, 7th September 2024
From 10:00 – 15:00 at Treborth Botanic Gardens, Bangor University
- Learn about the wonderful diversity of the woodlands, including arboreta, spectacular specimen trees, ancient semi natural woodland and more.
- Discussions about ash dieback research, led by John Healey, the 8th Professor of Forest Sciences
- Discover how the Botanic Gardens are used as an outdoor learning classroom for the forestry degree programmes, with Dr Tim Peters and Dr James Walmsley
- Future of conifers in forestry – discussion led by Dr Trefor Owen and Dr Christine Cahalan
- Lots of time to catch up with old friends and continue discussions about how we can ensure that Forestry@Bangor thrives for the next 120 years
- Enjoy morning tea / coffee, and a buffet lunch and refreshments
- Explore the Gardens at your own leisure after lunch, including the National Coast Path with views of the Spectacular Menai Straits
TICKETS
£75 per person (including all food, drinks and meals)
£100 per person (including all food, drinks and meals and commemorative gilet) Please do NOT order from the Sional website. If you select this option in the University shop you will be presented with your gilet in Bangor on the 6th September.
The cost is set at a level that will cover the hosting of this event. Donations are welcome and any profits will go towards supporting current forestry students.

ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation has been held for attendees of the reunion at the University’s Management Centre and Ffriddoedd Site halls of residence. These are limited, so please book early!
Management Centre
The University’s Management Centre is 4 Star Accommodation on College Road, opposite the Main University Building.
Double rooms are available at £114 per night bed & breakfast, all en-suite with complimentary Wi-Fi, tea and coffee making facilities, digital flat screen televisions and ample car parking spaces available.

Halls of Residence
Single room, en-suite accommodation is also available in the University’s Idwal halls of residence on Ffriddoedd Road.
