Contractor Event - Landscaping Works at College Park, Deiniol Road, Bangor
Overview of the Project
Located at the base of Bangor University Main Arts building, College Park is an important green space connecting the University and the City of Bangor. It is often overlooked and underused. Historically, the park has been treated as an isolated space with its use and purpose unclear. The vision for College Park is to make it a more welcoming place for everyone to enjoy. The aim is to open-up this area and create a welcoming green space in the City of Bangor. With new facilities, College Park could be transformed into a vibrant and exciting place of education and enjoyment.
Proposed Works 2024
The initial design proposals for College Park are planned to help realise the vision for this important green space. Our proposals consist of a series of interventions within the area aiming to improve safety and accessibility as well as to encourage more people to visit the park.
The key improvements to the park infrastructure include:
- Creation of new accessible pathway across the park linking with Pontio;
- Creation of a new safer entrance off Deiniol Road linking to the city centre;
- Creating usable lawn areas to encourage new activities, small scale events, relaxation, and outdoor learning;
- Provision of new lighting to improve safety after dusk;
- Management and selective thinning of existing vegetation to open up the views and improve safety along the footpaths.
