The English lexicon comprises hundreds of thousands of words, each of which has its own unique linguistic journey. This talk will introduce you to some of the most fascinating histories of words in English, and make you rethink the words you use in your daily life!
Etymology is an aspect of historical linguistics, which is concerned with how languages change over time. As well as checking out the etymologies of different words, along the way we will cover the basics of Linguistics, considering grammatical features like phonology and morphology and their role in the creation of words.
