Phương will contribute to pioneering research on health system governance and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) containment. This role is integral to a qualitative international study investigating the impact of governance structures on AMR policies in Kenya and Vietnam. Working alongside senior researchers, she will contribute to developing research proposals, conducting literature reviews, and employing ethnographic methods such as interviews and observations. Responsibilities also include qualitative data analysis, report writing, and active engagement with stakeholders at national and international levels.
Phương said, "Securing this role at OUCRU in Vietnam feels like the culmination of my journey since graduating with an MA in Social Policy from Bangor University six months ago with support from so many people. It signifies the application of my academic endeavours into real-world challenges, particularly in areas like health system governance and antimicrobial resistance. Joining OUCRU allows me to collaborate with a global team committed to making a significant impact in Southeast Asia. This opportunity represents a pivotal moment in my career, offering a platform to contribute substantively to research that influences policy and enhances health outcomes locally, regionally, and globally."
Reflecting on this good news, Dr Hefin Gwilym, Lecturer in Social Policy, commented, “Phương Anh has done exceptionally well in getting this post and the MA Social Policy from Bangor University has equipped her well for the research tasks she will be carrying out. While in Bangor she worked very hard and we even cowrote a chapter together on class and UBI for an edited book to be published in 2026.”
