Exciting appointment for significant research in Welsh historical politics
History and Politics at Bangor University have been successful in their bid for a small grant from the Thomas Ellis Memorial Fund (worth £1600), that has allowed them to appoint a short-term Research Project Support Officer to do some basic research.
This short-term research forms part of a project that Dr Marc Collinson is undertaking with Dr Dinah Evans (former Lecturer and current Honorary Research Associate in the School) on Welsh politics and administrative devolution 1964-99.
Dr Matthew Day is the appointed short-term Research Project Support Officer, who is an expert on Welsh Conservativism, with a focus on north Wales MP and minister, Wyn Roberts. Matthew completed his PhD under the supervision of Dr Mari Wiliam at Bangor University in 2022.
Dr Collinson said, "It’s great to involve a post-doctoral scholar in an ongoing research project. The contribution of Dr Matthew Day, with his expertise in north Wales Conservativism and the Welsh Office, will greatly enhance the quality of this project on Welsh politics and devolution, a subject on which Bangor historians have long been interested."
