Mr Justice Nicklin was appointed a judge of the High Court on 2 October 2017 and assigned to the Queen’s Bench division. He took the customary knighthood in the same year. Since February 2021, he has been a judge in charge of the media and communications since February 2021. Judge Nicklin gave a very engaging talk to the students about his career path, the probono work he did whilst in London and the essential legal skills the legal advice clinic will provide to students wanting to pursue a career in Law (either as a solicitor or at the bar). He provided some amusing (yet serious) anecdotes of his work at Islington Law Centre and explained how important such clinics are to the local community and how personally satisfying such work can be, even for qualified professionals.
Tracey Horton, Director of Bangor University Legal Advice Clinic (BULAC), said, “we were extremely privileged to have Judge Nicklin come to speak to our students and are extremely grateful for his pledged support for BULAC”.
