Wales and War 1914-2014 Symposium
School, Bangor University
Tuesday 8th April 2014
This one day symposium will bring together papers from both established scholars and postgraduate students, from whatever disciplinary background, on the theme of war and the impact it has had on Welsh life, identity, politics and culture over the past century.
The 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War offers a timely opportunity to examine this theme. War has played an essential role in the construction and representation of national identity in Britain. The aim of this symposium is to explore the Welsh experience and to consider the extent to which the conflicts of the past century have shaped Wales.
