Social Policy lecturer presents at major Social Work conference
Hefin Gwilym, Lecturer in Social Policy, recently delivered a presentation at the ‘Social Work without Borders: Building an International Community of Practice’ Conference at the University of Lincoln.
Entitled ‘Defining a Core Universal Social Work Identity’, Hefin’s presentation focussed on how the concept of a universal social work identity is contested due to the conflicting ways in which social work is conceptualised in different countries. Its aim was to spark debate and encourage new approaches to the understanding of international social work.
The conference’s key note address was delivered by Karen Lyons, Professor Emeritus at London Metropolitan University, pictured third from right in the front row, while Hefin Gwilym is pictured sixth from left.
