Psychology Celebrates
The School of Psychology celebrated its 50th year with a Ceildh Party in the impressive surroundings of the Bangor University's PJ Hall on the evening of 4th July. Current staff and students were joined by alumni and past staff, some specially invited guests as well as delegates from the Experimental Psychology Society Conference and attendees at the School of Psychology's ERP Summer School, both of which are being held at Bangor this week.
As well as the chance to learn more about the past 50 years at the school party goers were able to join in traditional Celtic dances and even sample a pint of Freudian Sip, a special Golden Anniversary ale brewed by a group of Bangor University's students who formed the award winning 'University of Ales' team who represented Wales in the UK finals of the Young Enterprise Start Up Programme and who were mentored by Prof. Intriligator, Director of the Consumer Psychology and Business masters programme at Bangor.
Prof. Charles Leek said "It was a great evening thoroughly enjoyed by all and it was perhaps fitting that a department that prides its self on both its research strength and its friendly atmosphere spent the evening celebrating its 50th anniversary with such a diverse range of people." You can find out more about the last 50 years of the department by visiting the 50th Anniversary Web pages.
