Bangor best practice shared at international student support conference
Bangor best practice in how to guide staff in supporting and advising international students is being adopted by other institutions.
Dr Marcel Clusa represented the International Student Support Office at the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) conference in Newcastle recently, where he presented a session on ‘Help yourself to help others', where he outlined the particular challenges that international students face. Feedback from the session was very positive and many attendees were now planning on introducing the initiatives introduced at Bangor at their own institutions.
In addition, Nebu George, a PhD student at Bangor studying Archaeology, was invited to give a talk at the Inspiring Student Stories closing plenary of the Conference, at which he gave an insight into his experiences as an international student from India.
Marcel added;
Nebu’s talk was very well received and illustrated how he had embraced the opportunities available during his studies, which had led to him being elected as an International Ambassador for UKCISA.
