Banking graduates celebrate in Bahrain
The month of June saw the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) celebrate the graduation of students for the years 2020 and 2021 following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions in the kingdom.
BIBF has been a long-standing partner of Bangor University and currently has over 20,000 students enrolled on a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses. It has graduated over 1,000 Bangor students at undergraduate level and has achieved 86% graduate employability.
During the ceremony 174 alumni received their degrees in the subjects of Banking and Finance and Accounting and Finance. The event was overseen by the Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain and Chairman of BIBF’s Board of Directors, Rasheed Al Maraj, and the Higher Education Council Secretary General and Board of Trustees Vice Chair, Dr. Shaikah Rana bint Isa Al Khalifa. Attending from Bangor University was Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Edwards.
Speaking at the event, Andrew expressed his pride in how the strong relationship between the University and BIBF had strengthened over the past 20 years, equipping the banking and financial sector with well-skilled candidates who are ready to join the labour market.
Celebrating this major milestone, BIBF’s Director Dr. Ahmed Al Shaikh congratulated the graduates, encouraging them to apply the skills and knowledge in their professional careers. Additionally, Dr. Al Shaikh highlighted BIBF’s commitment to fulfilling the business needs across all sectors with a focus on Bahrain’s economic development goals, through the provision of highly qualified local human capital, as a key national goal.
Following the graduation there were a number of awards presented by a range of national and international banks including Al Baraka Islamic Bank, Arab Bank, Ahli United Bank, BBK, Bank ABC, National Bank of Bahrain, Al Salam Bank, as well as Naseej Company.
