Three Bangor academics elected fellows of the Learned Society of Wales
The Learned Society of Wales has this year named three academics from Bangor University among the 43 new Fellows elected to the Society, all of whom represent the best of Wales’ academic, cultural and civic life. Election to Fellowship is a public recognition of academic excellence, and all LSW Fellows have made an outstanding contribution to the world of learning and have a demonstrable connection to Wales.
The following from Bangor University are among the new Fellows:
- Professor Edmund Burke, Vice-Chancellor
- Professor Andrew Lewis, Professor of Composition
- Professor Yueng-Djern Lenn, Professor in Physical Oceanography
Established in 2010, the Society draws upon the considerable strengths of nearly 700 distinguished Fellows based in Wales, the UK and beyond.
The Society, Wales’s first national scholarly academy, aims to establish itself both as a recognised international representative of the world of Welsh learning, and as a source of authoritative, scholarly, and critical comment and advice on policy issues affecting Wales.
