University joins ‘Twin For Hope’ initiative to support Ukrainian universities
The 8th September 2022 saw the launch of the Universities UK International twinning scheme ‘Twin for Hope’, which demonstrates how universities including Bangor are contributing to supporting Ukrainian universities during the ongoing humanitarian crisis
Bangor University is currently engaging with Khmelnytskyi National University, situated in Khmelnytskyi in western Ukraine. It is the largest higher education in the Podillya region and has more than 6,000 students and 539 full-time scientific and teaching staff.
Staff from the University and Students’ Union recently met with colleagues from Khmelnytskyi National University online to identify common purpose and the best way to work together.
Sam Jackson-Royle, Director of International Operations and Admissions said,
We’re proud to be taking part in this initiative and offering this support to our Ukrainian colleagues. There are some obvious crossover areas in terms of research, for example in sustainable agriculture, preservation of soil, forestry and place regeneration, as well as practical steps that we can take to support things like English language provision, technical support and access to online resources. There’s also a fantastic opportunity for our Students’ Unions to link up with the Students’ Union at Khmelnytskyi National University and see whether there are opportunities to work together.
