Experience
Tirion is a highly qualified and experienced mathematics tutor and researcher with a passion for helping students succeed. He has a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Aberystwyth University, where his research investigated an invasive treatment for varicose veins and mathematically modelled the process to gain insight into the effectiveness of the treatment. Tirion's research on varicose veins is particularly promising. He is investigating the use of foam in foam sclerotherapy, a minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins that is becoming increasingly popular. His research hopes to improve the efficacy of this treatment. Tirion is also mathematically modelling the varicose veins treatment process. This modelling could be used to predict the outcome of treatment for individual patients and to optimize the treatment process.
Tirion is also a FHEA, which is a prestigious award that recognizes his excellence in teaching and education. He is the module lead for all mathematics modules at BUIC and has experience teaching physics. During his PhD, he was a postgraduate teacher at the Department of Mathematics and Physics at Aberystwyth, teaching tutorials in algebra, calculus, geometry, and computing. He became a HFHEA during this time. Before this, he completed an integrated master's degree in applied mathematics at Cardiff University, where he worked on a project that studied the onset of vortices in rotating boundary layers.
Tirion is enjoying teaching at BUIC and helping students to prepare for their university studies. He is particularly passionate about using his mathematical skills to help students understand complex concepts. He is also committed to providing students with the support they need to succeed in their studies.
Interests
Tirion is a passionate footballer and runner. He plays for his local village team most weekends and enjoys competing in running events. He is also the treasurer and a member of a choir in Caernarfon. Tirion loves spending time outdoors, especially walking along the Welsh coastline and in the local mountains.
