Professor Chris Collins appointed ISM president 2020-21

The Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM) has announced the appointment of Professor Chris Collins as president for 2020-21.

Professor Collins, a musicologist whose work spans music, language, literature and performance, will lead the ISM through this difficult time for the music sector. He was previously head of the School of Music and Media at Bangor University and will join the University of Aberdeen as a new Head of School of Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture from 1 June 2020. 

He said: ‘I am deeply aware that my presidency comes at a time when the ISM has never been more important, providing much-needed advice, support and advocacy in tumultuous circumstances. I know that the ISM will continue to do everything it can to safeguard the music community which gives so much to the whole of the UK and the wider world.’
