The Spring CAHB Postgraduate Research Conference
The Spring CAHB Postgraduate Research Conference was held in Pontio on Saturday, 26 March, and was received with great success. There was a large gathering of students and staff both in person and on Zoom to attend the event.
The Conference began with a welcoming address from Professor Martina Feilizer, Dean of College, who highlighted the importance of research that is done by the postgraduates in the college and noted that this event was an opportunity to celebrate the wide variety of research that happens at Bangor University.
The Conference programme reflected this variety, with papers covering topics such as literature, law, linguistics, music, philosophy, film, and drama. Two papers were given in the medium of Welsh, highlighting the importance of Welsh-language research within the college. Following the conclusion of each paper, a lively discussion ensued, many of which continued during the lunch and tea breaks.
The day’s festivities also included the launch of an anthology of poems and prose written by MA students in the English department, under the title Sonder. In addition to distributing copies of their publication, the students were able to read selections of their work published in the anthology.
The Conference came to an end following words of thanks from Professor Pwyll ap Sion and the Conference Committee’s members and a day of intriguing presentations, which reflected the high quality and diverse research environment at Bangor University.
