Visiting the highlands of Anjouan
A blog post by Dr Edwin Pynegar
Here we are out in the field in the highlands of Anjouan above the village of Adda-Douéni! Paolo Trimarchi (left) is an MSc candidate from the University of Copenhagen, visiting to understand the project and the context of Anjouan better. We are here with Dahari technicians Ishaka Said (second left) and Samirou Soulaïmana (second right), to take locations and photographs of native tree species which are believed to locally provide ecosystem services, as well as undertaking drone overflights to try out development of “structure from motion” 3D models of the landscape. We also got a good look at the forest frontier on Anjouan.
