One World Gala celebrates diversity at Bangor
Bangor University celebrated the diversity and talent amongst its students, staff and the local community with its annual One World Gala. From Welsh clogs to Indonesian song medleys, Indian Bollywood dancing and Chinese traditional instruments, acts represented many corners of the Globe. PJ Hall was full as the audience enjoyed the free event organised by the International Student Support Team.
Alan Edwards, International Student Support Manager, said, “We’ve organised the Gala for more than a decade and the event keeps getting bigger and better. The Gala is a celebration of the diversity of nationalities here at Bangor, and an opportunity for students to showcase their particular cultures through song, dance and instrumentals. We see the Gala as an opportunity for the University and Bangor to engage in celebration of the multicultural nature of the city.”
In addition to the varied performances on show, the event also raised money for the Disasters Emergencies Committee Earthquake appeal to support those affected by the recent disaster in Turkey and Syria.
