The school of Computer Science and Engineering welcomed new undergraduate students. Dr Iestyn Pierce, head of school, said
It is an exciting time, for the students, and for us as academics. It is brilliant to meet the students for the first time, hear their interests, goals, and aspirations, and get to know them. We have a vibrant set of events planned, from go-carting to pizza. We look forward to building relationships with these students and helping them on their educational journey.
During the first day students were shown around the school and met their tutors over pizza. In an exciting talk, Peredur Williams (lecturer on the Product Design programme) encouraged students to “turn up” even if they were tired after late night partying, and to “rest” after a long day of studying. Then challenged students with a school Bingo. He encouraged students to walk to these locations with a friend, that they have just met on the course, and take a selfie of themselves at each of the 16 places and share their experiences.
