Celebrating Cultural engagement at Penmachno school!
The Confucius Institute at Bangor University is delighted to have collaborated with Penmchno School to complete an engaging Chinese Lunar New Year workshop for primary school children. The colourful celebration featured hands-on activities such as Clay Panda sculpting and Dragon paper cutting, aligning with our commitment to fostering creativity, cultural awareness, and community engagement among young participants.
Witnessing the excitement at the Clay Panda station and the meticulous efforts during the Dragon paper cutting segment was truly rewarding. We believe that this workshop has not only provided students with a hands-on experience in celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year but has also played a crucial role in introducing them to traditional crafts and fostering an appreciation for cultural diversity. We extend our gratitude to Penmchno School for the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful and successful event.
Ms. Elliw Roberts, the Headteacher at Penmachno, shared positive feedback, expressing that all pupils thoroughly enjoyed the session with the Confucius tutors. The tutors were commended for being very friendly and jolly. The older pupils found joy in following the step-by-step instructions to create their Clay Pandas, while the Foundation phase pupils engaged in developing their fine motor skills by folding paper to create their Paper Dragons. The Dragons and Pandas were indeed a joy to see. Ms Elliw Roberts expressed her appreciation, stating, 'Thank you all for a wonderful morning; we look forward to welcoming you back to Penmachno in the future. Diolch yn fawr."
