Dr Luis Vallejo Invited Guest Lecture at NEWFOCUS Training School 2024, Carlos 3 University of Madrid
On 22nd April 2024 Dr Luis Vallejo (Post-doctoral Research Officer) delivered a Guest Lecture titled “Optical technologies for wireless communications in B5G networks” to 25 Phd students from across Europe as part of the NEWFOCUS project Training School 2024.
Guest Lecture Abstract: This presentation provides an overview of enabling technologies for Beyond 5G (B5G) scenarios, with a particular focus on optical solutions to meet the exceptional demands of future access networks. Topics covered will include, but are not limited to, advancements in fiber networks, photonic-aided mmWave signal generation employing free-running lasers, convergence of fiber-wireless radio access networks through Soft-ROADM-based optical switching and free-running lasers for mmWave signal generation, optical wireless communications at 850 nm, and physical layer security for Optical Wireless Communications (OWC). Additionally, the presentation will address the anticipated challenges associated with exploring scenarios beyond 5G.
