Bangor University ranked in the top third of QS World University Rankings 2025
With over 1500 institutions evaluated in the QS World University Rankings 2025, Bangor secured the 474th position, marking an improvement of 7 places compared to last year. This places Bangor University in the top 32% of all ranked universities.
Advances were made in certain performance indicators, notably, the International Research Network (IRN) indicator which saw a climb of 94 places, now standing at 409th. This indicator, scoring 75/100, measures the institution's capacity to forge sustainable research partnerships on an international scale.
Another notable gain was observed in the Citations per Faculty indicator, where Bangor University rose by 25 places to secure a spot within the top 350 (321st). This metric, contributing 20% to the overall score, gauges the impact and calibre of academic research based on the average number of citations garnered per academic.
A decline of 31 places was observed in the Sustainability indicator, which evaluates the social and environmental impact of universities in alignment with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Despite the drop, this indicator remains the highest scoring of 83/100 and the ranking remains within the top 150 (139th).
In terms of international metrics, the position within the top 300 for International Student percentage was maintained, despite a small decline of 13 places. A loss was also observed in the top 400 placement for International Faculty percentage, with a fall of 25 places, though the institution remains within the top 450 (416th).
