The 17th International Accounting & Finance Doctoral Symposium (IAFDS)
The 17th International Accounting & Finance Doctoral Symposium (IAFDS), held from June 16 to 18 at Parthenope University, highlighted the talents of Bangor University’s third-year PhD students Chiara Lo Re, Cem Soner, and Hong Ngoc Nguyen. Supported entirely by Bangor Business School (BBS), the students presented their research papers and received positive feedback from attendees and session chairs.
Chiara Lo Re presented her paper titled "The Impact of the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD) on Banks’ Deposit and Debt Ratings." Cem Soner discussed his research on "The Impact of Brexit on SME Lending in the UK," while Hong Ngoc Nguyen presented his paper "Green Bonds in Europe: Unveiling the Links Between ESG Performance, Sovereign Issuance, and Corporate Market Responses."
The symposium, aimed at enhancing the research skills and capabilities of doctoral students, was organized in collaboration with prestigious universities from Australia, Europe, and the UK. Participating institutions included Bond University, SKEMA Business School, SOAS University of London, Università di Bologna, University of Leeds, University of Liverpool, University of Queensland, and the University of Strathclyde Business School.
Dr. Binru Zhao, who also attended the event and chaired one of the sessions, praised the exceptional performance of Bangor’s PhD students. "All of our students performed exceptionally well, engaging in detailed discussions and receiving commendable feedback during the one-to-one sessions with session chairs," Binru remarked.
This event not only showcased the research capabilities of Bangor's PhD students but also significantly enhanced the university's reputation and expanded BBS's academic network across Australia, the UK, and Europe.
