The graduation ceremony for the School of Computer Science and Engineering on July 9, 2024, was a memorable event. The day began with a celebratory lunch and award ceremony hosted by Dr. Iestyn Pierce, the outgoing head of the school.
Hosting our 2024 graduation ceremony was a pleasure. While it was raining in the morning, the rain held off when we were outside taking photographs. We had a fantastic day. These events provide an opportunity to recognize the dedication, perseverance, and accomplishments of the graduating students. It is a wonderful time for students to reflect on their academic journey and celebrate their achievements with peers, families, and staff.
The day started with a celebration lunch with graduates, staff, parents and friends along with prize giving.
During this ceremony, degrees were conferred upon graduates specializing in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, and Product Design. The formal proceedings began with students, parents, and friends assembling in the grand Prichard-Jones Hall, the University's primary venue for lectures and special events like concerts, the Summer Ball, and graduation.
Following the formal ceremony, staff and students assembled for the official photograph. Professor Jonathan Roberts commented,
The official photograph is always a highlight. It unites all graduates and staff, and the colourful robes add a vibrant touch. The excitement was palpable as everyone gathered for the photo.
The new head of school, Professor William Heath, said:
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all our students on their remarkable achievements and wish them every success in their future endeavours. It will be wonderful to stay connected and follow their journeys, hearing about their career progress and accomplishments. We look forward to celebrating their ongoing successes and remaining a part of their professional lives.
