A Festive Finale: Confucius Institute’s Final Open Day of the Year!
On 13th December, the Confucius Institute bid farewell to the year with a lively and unforgettable Open Day, bursting with cultural richness and festive cheer.
With the weekly theme of Traditional Chinese Music & Dance, attendees explored the fascinating world of traditional Chinese arts. The event included an introduction to traditional Chinese music, featuring live demonstrations of iconic instruments such as the erhu and the guzheng. The enchanting sounds and cultural stories behind these ancient instruments were brought to life by our skilled tutors.
Adding a delightful twist, a guest participant brought along a Scottish pipe and delivered a stirring performance. This unexpected blend of Scottish and Chinese musical traditions created a magical moment of cultural harmony that left everyone smiling.
The focus then shifted to movement and dance, inspired by classical Chinese traditions, allowing attendees to learn graceful choreography while uncovering the symbolic meanings embedded in these dance forms. The lively atmosphere reflected participants’ enthusiasm as they embraced the art of movement as a form of cultural expression.
The day ended on a harmonious and celebratory note, truly embodying the spirit of cultural exchange and appreciation.
