Bangor University assists with Physical Education A Level revision
25 A Level pupils from Anglesey schools, Ysgol Tryfan, Ysgor Friars, Ysgol Y Berwyn and Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen came together to participate in a bilingual physical education revision day at Bangor University recently.
This was the first time the University’s School of Sport, Health and Exercise Science arranged a focussed revision day which included presentations on sports psychology and the physiology of sport, with a number of group exercises. The pupils were given useful revision resources during the day as well as a take home revision pack.
Dr Sian Eleri Jones, Lecturer in Sports Psychology for Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol at Bangor University, said: "We wanted to invite local schools into the department so that they could prepare for their A Level exams. The day was planned in collaboration with teachers from local schools so that we met the needs of the students. Dr Julian Owen and I have enjoyed working with these young people and it was great to work in partnership with local schools.
"I also had the opportunity to offer an insight into the potential careers available in the field of sports science and hopefully inspire them to continue to study sport at university."
Donna Jones, Ysgol Friars said: "The revision day was very well planned. The concepts were explained clearly and associated with the types of questions that will be expected in the exam. The pupils were shown how and why they need to apply their knowledge to take advantage of marks in the exam."
