Fresh start to the summer
The Bangor University Summer Ball can be the pinnacle of the University social calendar and for some it marks the end of an era of a student’s time at Bangor.
This year was no different as we saw the grounds of the Main Arts building transformed over the weekend and an array of artists and DJs come entertain throughout the night.
Even if you didn’t venture into PJ Hall for the Main Stage there were plenty of other things to make the occasion a memorable event. The funfair rides on the Quad car park raised everyone’s spirits, literally, while the casino tables and cocktail lounge appealed to those channelling their sophisticated side!
DJ Fresh had been busy promoting his latest single, The Power, featuring Dizzy Rascall, during the week leading up to the Ball, but he didn’t hold back on playing a crowd pleasing set which got the crowds at PJ Hall jumping along.
Maximo Park has the experience of entertaining large crowds, after touring and playing numerous festival dates over the years, and they didn’t disappoint at Bangor at all. For many they were the highlight of the evening.
In addition to the established artists there was the ever popular Jazz Lounge and this year saw a 90’s Arena with a great mix of tribute acts to get the party going and help create an amazing atmosphere for the crowd.
Second year student Patrick Birchall exclaimed;
“ It’s been a great night so far, an amazing way to mark the end of term and I’m making the most of the chance to have a night out with friends before we go our separate ways for the summer.”
