Guest Lecture: ‘The Parole Board: Then and Now’
On Thursday, 19 March 2015, from 2.00-3.00pm in Alun 0.01, His Honour Judge Jeremy Roberts QC will speak on ‘The Parole Board: Then and Now’. Judge Roberts is a serving member of the Parole Board, having previously sat on the Press Complaints Commission and as a judge in the Old Bailey, so he brings a considerable wealth of experience to this lecture. Judge Roberts’s talk will cover how the law relating to sentences for murder has changed over the past 60 years, with particular reference to the shifting powers and responsibilities of the Executive and the Judiciary, and the impact of the European Convention on Human Rights. It promises to be a most fascinating lecture.
