Professor John G. Hughes,Vice Chancellor of Bangor University, awarded the certificates at the LEAD Wales graduation ceremony: “Often business owners can feel isolated and lack confidence. The LEAD Wales programme has shown that it can take businesses through the key processes to enhance individual leadership skills and has already achieved outstanding results for businesses in the convergence area of Wales”. Also awarding the certificates at the graduation ceremony was Hugh Hilditch-Roberts, Director of Membership and Business Development at the Chartered Management Institute.
LEAD Wales is a revolutionary and highly successful development programme that equips owner-managers of SME’s to enhance their leadership skills and take their business to the next level. The aim of the programme is to give owner-managers the resources and support they need to fully harness the skills and energy of their staff whilst recognising and exploiting opportunities for greater efficiency, providing a platform for growth.
Owner Managers who attend the LEAD Wales programme at Bangor University represented almost every strand of business from Hotel, Childcare Centre, Hairdressers, Printing Company, Security Company, Accountants and I.T. Company.
There is no cost involved, although delegates need to commit to two days a month for 10 months to get the full benefit of the programme valued at £11,500. The programme is funded from the European Social Fund (ESF) through the Welsh Assembly Government with the objective that LEAD Wales will develop 700 owner-managers in the convergence region of Wales over a six year period. The LEAD Wales programme has a proven track record of delivering improved business performance for past delegates. So, if you are the Owner Manager of an SME with four or more members of staff in the convergence area of Wales, LEAD can provide a framework to improve profitability and diversity to help grow your business. It will give you the time to work on the business rather than in the business.
