Pontio to appoint Artistic Director
Bangor University is in the process of seeking an Artistic Director for the Pontio Arts and Innovation Centre.
The successful candidate, who will be a Welsh speaker, will lead the performing arts component of Pontio by creating diverse programmes for a wide range of audiences and lead the development of new business opportunities.
Candidates are being invited to apply for the position before the closing date of 2nd December 2011.
Pontio is designed to bring together arts, science, technology and the creative industries and stimulate the economic regeneration of the region. The post of Artistic Director is pivotal to Pontio’s long-term development.
Bangor University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor John G. Hughes said:
“The Artistic Director will be responsible for leading the performing arts element of Pontio, nurturing new audiences and developing new programmes.
“An important role for the Artistic Director will be to develop Welsh language activities, including commissioning and producing new work in the Welsh language, so that Pontio can be a catalyst for innovation and growth in Welsh arts.
“Pontio already boasts a growing programme of theatre, dance, music, public art and outreach events. This is a very exciting time to be joining the team.”
